Mary Judson Straughan Mary J. Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday September 29, 2013, surrounded by friends. She was born ineebane oneeptember 1, 1914. She was the daughter of Luther Steven Straughan and Katie James Straughaneeceased. She had one sister Jeter Burton Holt deceased. She is survived by neerous cousins, including Suzanne Dail Joey of Mebane; Teena Petree Charlie of Plano, TX; Jeter James of New Braunfels, TX. Her extended families: Barbara and Lee Mitchell of Durham; Sue and Fulton Paris of Burlington. Her special friends were Dianne Wallen, Linda Moore, Renne Little and Sheila Baker. Mary J. worked ineetail sales and as a buyer for Ellis Stone, Belks, and Jones and Frazier's in Durham. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Durham and was a member of the Loyalty and Friendship class of the Senior Adult Sunday School Dept. and the Judy Hill Mission Group. Mary J. enjoyed sitting oneer porch surrounded by her flowers and birds. She loved her church, her friends, and playing cards with her canasta group. She lived a full life of 99 years. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2 from Oakwood Cemetery ineebane, NC. The Rev. Andy Winn will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
