Mary Leigh Hobgood

OXFORD: Mrs. Mary Leigh Newby Hobgood age 78 died Thursday, neember 6, 2008. Mrs. Hobgood was a native of Granville Co. and the daughter of the late Charlie G. and Lelia Faucette Newby. Mrs. Hobgood was a member of Dexter Baptist Church and was retired from Burlington Mills, Oxford Plant. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, neember 9, 2008 from Dexter Baptist Church, by the Rev. Franeellington and Rev. Neil Woodlief. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Surviving are three sons, Samuel C. Hobgood, III and wife Kay, of Oxford, NC; Sterling Hobgood and wife Vickie, of Durham, NC and Tim Hobgood and wife Mary Ann Creedmoor, NC. One brother, Tom Newby and wife Nell, of Kittrell NC. Her daughter-In-Law, Dixie Hobgood, Oxford, NC. Four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, six step-grandchildren. Mrs. Hobgood was preceded in by her husband, Samuel C. Horbood, Jr., and one son, David Hobgood. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, 120 Orange Street, Oxford NC 27565.Visitation for the family will from 7 to 8:30 PM Saturday neember 8, 2008 from Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC and at other times be at the home of Sam and Kay Hobgood, 2582 HWY 158-West, Oxford NC.
