Oxford: Mary Louettie Howard Freeman, 97, of Oxford, NC, died oneednesday, May 3, 2017. She was a native of Granville County and the daughter of the late Terry E. and Mary Bessie Hobgood Howard. Louettie was preceded ineeath by her husband Allen T. Freeman after thirty-eight years of marriage. She was also predeceased by three brothers Floyd, Maynard, and Coolidge Howard; and two sisters Gladys Adcock aneeula Wynne. She is survived by two daughters Teresa L. Freeman of Garner and Mary Lou (Bill) Shannonhouse of Lynchburg, VA; three grandchildren Roger (Melissa) Shannonhouse, Traci S. (Greg) Jansen, and Jenneer Shannonhouse; two step-grandchildren Elizabeth and Matthew Hartley; and four great-grandchildren Gavin Shannonhouse, Logan Shannonhouse, Olivia Jansen, and Penelope Jansen. Mrs. Freeman was a graduate of Oak Hill High School, class of 1938, and attended Campbell College. She was a former member of Hester Baptist Church and a current member of Oxford Baptist Church where she taught children in Sunday School for over forty years. She was a member of the WMU, Oxford???s Woman???s Club, Granville County Historical Society, Home Extension Club, and an employee of Union National Bank. Visitation will be held at Gentry neell & Vaughan Funeral Home Saturday May 6, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30PM. A funeral service will be held at Oxford Baptist Church on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Services will be conducted by Reverend Chris Aho and Reverend Terry Howard. Burial will follow in the Hester Baptist Church Cemetery.
