Mary Mason Foster, 96, resident of 4912 Biscayne Road, Durham, NC died Friday afternoon. Mrs. Foster was born in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late William and Senith Stewart Mason. She operated a Day Care from her home for about 10 years and then was employed with the J. B. Ivey Department Store for several years. In 1986, Mrs. Foster moved to Durham from Gastonia. She was a member of Yates Baptist Church in Durham. Mrs. Foster was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet. As a labor of love, she crocheted blankets for the neo-natal babies at Duke Uneersity Hospital. Surviving is her daughter, Patricia F. McQuay and husband James Newton McQuay both of Durham; three grandchildren, Vickie and Steve Reddick of Oak Ridge, TN, Libby and John Walsh of Durham and David M. McQuay of Durham and five great-grandchildren, Ryan and Anna Reddick, Kathryn, Matthew and Jack Walsh. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday in Forest Lawneemetery, Charlotte, NC. The Rev. Ray Cobb will preside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Foster
