Mary Sue Crabtree Vaughan, age 85, died unexpectedly Monday April 2, at home. A native of Durham, Mary Sue was born March 1, 1922 to the late Ethel Williams and O.C. Crabtree. She worked in the Payroll Dept. for many years at American Tobacco Company. A member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Mary Sue was a die-hard Carolina fan who took great delight ineeminding people of her unwavering allegiance to the school. She is survived by five nephews: Eugene S. Bobbitt of Durham; Ronald C. Bobbitt of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Robert C. Atwater of Chatham County; Charles S. Atwater of Durham; and Hubert L. Atwater of Glen Burnie, MD. Mary Sue was preceded ineeath by her husband, Gaither R. Vaughan. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 5, in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 18. The Reverend Forest M. Gale, Jr. will preside. Friends may visit prior to the service from 12:30
