STEM: Mary Suggs Bowling, age 84, died Friday, January 22, 2010 at her home. A native of Horry County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Worth Suggs and Lucille Suggs. Mrs. Bowling was a member of Oxford Baptist Church where she played the piano for several classes and was a member of the church choir, the hand bell choir, WMU, as well as being very active in the Church Family Center oneednesday night. She was former choir director at Providence Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in Oxford Baptist Church by Dr. Steven Bolton and Dr. Phil Smith. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Bowling Adcock Howard of Durham, Donna Bowling Preddy Mike of Oxford; two sons, James Bowling Jenny of Bahama, Tim Bowling Stephanie Mallery of Stem. One sister, Ann Sims Troy of Loris, SC; one brother, Harold Suggs Julie of Loris, SC; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Esther Bowling of Zebulon and best friend, Betty Yancey. Mrs. Bowling was preceded ineeath by her husband, William H. Bowling, Sr., son, William H. Bowling, Jr., an infant son, one brother, Huger Suggs, and one sister, Emma Lee Bruton. The family would like to thank the care givers for their love and care that was shown to her and her family. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home and at other times, they will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Oxford Baptist Church or to the Music Ministry of Oxford Baptist Church, 147 Main Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
