Michael Brandenburg, affectionately known as "Flounderman," passed away suddenly on September 2, 2024 in New Hanover County, North Carolina. He was born on August 10, 1965, in Fairfax County, Virginia, and spent his life creating cherished memories and stories.  He worked within the food service industry at Murdoch Facility in Butner, NC until he became unable to.

Michael had a profound love for the ocean, often spending his free time fishing for flounder, a hobby that brought him immense joy. His passion extended to duck hunting, where he found tranquility and thrill amid nature's beauty. He embraced the outdoors, and those who shared these moments with him will forever remember the laughter and camaraderie they experienced together.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Irene Cates Brandenburg; his stepchildren, Angela Lopez and Ronald Adcock; and his beloved brother, David Brandenburg. Michael's love extended to his grandchildren, Kerry Adcock, Avery Adcock, Cameron Adcock, Haley Adcock, Leo Reaves, and Ivana "Sunshine" Reaves, who will always hold fond memories of their time with him. His fur babies, Diggar and Zena, were also a significant part of his life, showcasing his compassionate nature.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Ores Brandenburg; mother, Carol Sue Blake Brandenburg; and stepson, Harold "Rooster" Adcock, Jr. Their memories will continue to resonate alongside Michael's legacy.

A graveside service will be held in his honor on September 7, 2024, at South Granville Memorial Cemetery in Stem, North Carolina, starting at 10:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate the life of a man whose spirit touched so many. His kindness, laughter, and love for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
