Beaufort, NC – Michael Paige Umstead, 82, passed away in Morehead City, NC on January 7th. He was born August 7th 1938 to the late Malcolm Bruce Umstead and Etta Monk Umstead of Bahama, NC.
He was raised in Bahama and served as Class President in the first graduating class of Northern High School in Durham. He later served his Country in the National Guard. He was formerly employed by Clark and Sorrell in Durham and Parker Honda in Morehead City. He was a member at Calvary Baptist Church in Beaufort.
He is survived by his wife Jean Bowers Umstead, her daughter Joy Bowers-Campbell and son-in-law Jonathan Mark Campbell, and daughter Rebecca Bowers; his son Gregory Mark Umstead and daughter-in-law Felicia Umstead.
He was preceded in death by his parents Malcolm Bruce Umstead and Etta Monk Umstead and sister Kitty Umstead Boersma.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in Bahama, NC on Tuesday, January 19th at 2:00 p.m.
