OXFORD: Mildred Smith Tippett, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012 at Durham Regional Hospital, after many years of declining health. Mildred was born October 7, 1934, in Franklin Co., and was the daughter of the late Melville & Laura Mae Smith, one of ten children. Mildred was a former farm wife and was medically retired from Granville Manufacturing Company formally of Oxford. Mildred took great pride, love and joy ineer great grandchildren. She was a member of Peace's Chapel Baptist Church. Mildred is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thurman Tippett of Fairport Rd., Oxford; two children, Deborah T. DanielStanley, and David Tippett of the home ; three granddaughters, Christy Daniel BunnBrian of Oxford, Dana Daniel MangumKyle of Rougemont, and Jessica LawsBenji of Creedmoor; five great grandchildren, Meghan, Caelyn, and Lila Grace Bunn, and Daniel and Austin Mangum; two brothers, Alvis Smith of Alto, Georgia, and CarltonBuck Smith of New Mexico; seven sisters, Margaret Dickerson of Oxford, Barbara Eury and Jeanette Bell of Louisburg, Betty Wynn of Franklinton, Judy Daniel of Youngsville and Jeaneerkins of Burlington. One of her sisters, Hazel Tucker, preceded her ineeath. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted October 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Peace's Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Bruce Brooks, Rev. Talmadge Williams and Jerry Holmes. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:30 Pm at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home, Oxford. At other times they be at the home of Deborah and Stanley Daniel Fairport Rd. Oxford. The Tippett family is under the care of Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home.
