Mrs. Minee Robert Dixon McCormick Burns, 90 of Bear Creek died June 8, 2009 at The Laurels of Chatham. Born April 4, 1919 at home in Chatham County, she was a daughter of Charles Franklin and Katie Mae Smith McCormick. Mrs. Burns was a retired seamstress, but had earlier operated Pickard's Department Store for a number of years. She was fiercely independent, a "spunky little soul" that loved traveling, dining out and was always ready to go. Mrs. Burns was a member of Mays Chapel Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Don Overby of Bear Creek; granddaughter, Carmane Honeycutt; step-grandchildren, Amy Wilkinson and Mark Overby; brother, James McCormick of Delaware; sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and Bud Holder of Pittsboro; and a number of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. The service to celebrate Mrs. Burns' life will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from Mays Chapel Baptist Church, 24 Rosser Rd., Bear Creek, with Pastors Val Chadwick aneeric Davidson presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 am 12:45 pm at the church oneednesday.
