Mrs. Mona Carpenter Firmage, 72, of Nicholson Road in Sanford died June 3, 2012 at her home following a period of declining health. Mrs. Firmage was born in Granville County, NC on July 8, 1939, a daughter of Harvey N. Carpenter, Sr. and Callie Elizabeth Couch. Mrs. Firmage was a US Navy veteran during the Viet Nam war; she was also a retired photographer. Mrs. Firmage attended Swan Station Baptist Church, and was a former member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Pittsboro. Mrs. Firmage is survived by her husband, Jack Leroy Firmage of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Teresa Firmage of Sanford; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Firmage Longacre and Brian Longacre of Oceanside, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Carry Brooks Carpenter and Jenneer Carpenter of Garner; sister and brother-in-law, Stella Jane Thomas aneemory Thomas of Oak City, OK; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Longacre of Oceanside, CA. In addition to her parents and siblings, Mrs. Firmage was preceded ineeath by her son, Gregory Scott Firmage. The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mona Carpenter Firmage will be held at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon, June 11, 2012 at Swan Station Baptist Church, with Pastor Russell Blackman presiding. Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall following the service. Interment will be held privately at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church cemetery.
