Nancy Noble Mcneill

Nancy N. McNeill, of Durham, died peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Croasdaile Methodist Retirement Home at age 91. The native of Dayton, Ohio, was the daughter of Dr. Charles G. Noble, M.D. and Alice B. Noble. After graduation from Flushing High School ineew York, she graduated from Hunter College, and served as a Wave during WWII where she met her husband, Capt. Dan C. McNeill. After the war, Nan was a homemaker, starting a family while her husband served in the Navy, in Paris, Pennsylvania and Newport, RI. Uponeer husband retiring from the Navy in 1964, she moved her family to New Caanan, CT before retiring to Seven Lakes, NC in 1982. She was an athlete, enjoying tennis, paddle tennis, swimming, and speed skating. She is survived by her three loving children, Pamela McNeill Nelson and her husband Dennis of Wilmington, OH, Jeffrey N. McNeill and his wife Kazuko of Tokyo, Japan, and David C. McNeill and his wife Diana of Durham, NC. Combined she leaves eight grandchildren, aneeight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Dan, her brothers, Charles G. Noble, Jr. and Raymond H. Noble, and older sister, Ruth Penfold. She maintained a welcoming home, where all children, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved to visit. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in the Chapel at Croasdaile Methodist Retirement Home at 2600 Croasdaile Parkway, Durham, NC 27705.
