Nellie Wynne Ross

Nellie Wynne Ross, age 91, died peacefully ineer Durham home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 7, 2008. A Durham native, Mrs. Ross was born to the late Aneew L. and Ollie Lowe Wynne on July 7, 1916. Mrs. Ross was employed by American Tobacco Co. where she retired in 1978. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church. Being born and raised on a farm she received great joy and satisfaction when she grew her flowers and worked ineer garden. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest joy in life. She treasured the memories of the many times she got to spend with them. Mrs. Ross is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Billy L. Ross, Sr., of Durham; her sons, Billy L. Ross, Jr. and wife, Beth, of Mars Hill, NC; Howard W. Ross, and wife, Angela, also of Durham; her brother, James E. Wynne; her sisters: Frances Pickett and Barbara Adams, all of Durham; her grandchildren: Stephanie Thompson and husband, Derek, of Matthews, NC; Clint Ross and wife, Heidi, of Pocatello, ID; Brittany and Tanner Ross, both of Carrollton, TX; and great-grandchildren: Laura, Julia, Jared, Emily and Carter Thompson. Mrs. Ross was preceded ineeath by her brothers: William Wynne, Howard Wynne, Claiborne Wynne aneearl Wynne. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2008 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, with the Rev. Phillip Mumford and the Rev. Jay Fogleman presiding. Burial will follow in Lowe's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Duke Community Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704; or the Juvenee Diabetes Research Foundation, Trianee Eastern N.C.
