In Loving Memory of Nicholas Thomas Morano

Dr. Nicholas Thomas Morano passed away peacefully in his sleep in Durham, North Carolina on November 23, 2021 at the age of 89.

Nick was born in Newark, New Jersey on November 12, 1932 to Thomas Morano and Dorothy DiPerna. Beginning at a young age, he always enjoyed embracing new experiences and had a passion for learning. As a young adult, he served in the U.S. Army and remained a proud veteran throughout his life. After serving in the U.S. Army, he decided to pursue his doctorate in Clinical Psychology. It was his greatest honor and privilege to remain committed to helping people journey through life for over 50 years. He continued his commitment well into his 80s, keeping only his closest friends/patients in his thoughts and care.

Additionally, Nick had a very creative mind, pursuing his lifelong passions including writing and music. For example, he loved journaling. He also wrote a book and was proud when it was published. And, as a teenager, he began playing the saxophone and learned to play the clarinet as well. He even performed in a couple of bands at different points in his life. Nick was also a well-traveled man who enjoyed diverse interests including international cuisine, books, art, and holistic healing. He was a very charismatic man who lived a full and abundant life.

Nick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dr. Edna Maria Morano, his 4 children: Laura, Greg, Chrysta, and Andrea, and his 5 grandchildren: James, Ryan, Sara, Brendan, and Jessica.

In one of his many journal writings, Nick best expressed his love for his life:

"Thank you, God. Thank you, Universe. I send a prayer of gratitude to all this is above, beyond, and below. I believe the spiritual beings have been present throughout this extraordinary period."
