Norma Ruth Allen

July 19, 1941 — October 17, 2023

Norma Ruth Dean Allen, a resident of Oxford, NC, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on July 19, 1941, to her beloved late parents, Norma Talmadge Dean and Annie Ruth Daniel Dean.


Norma's life was a testament to grace and beauty. She graduated from high school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education, embarking on a fulfilling career as an Executive Secretary at the JC Penny Corporate office in Plano, Texas. Her devotion to the piano, music, and choir was evident throughout her life, and she was an active member of Providence Baptist Church, where she lovingly shared her talents by playing the piano and organ and teaching the choir.


Norma is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Glenn Allen; her cherished children, Margo Van Leonard (Glen) of Powhatan, VA; Kelly Allen of Plano, TX; and Joey Daniel Allen (Tamara) of Frisco, TX. She is also remembered by her amazing grandchildren, Lauren Webb (Jeff), Glen Leonard, Jr, Megan Dunn (Derek), and Jacob Allen, as well as her precious great-granddaughter, Avery Webb. Norma's warm and loving spirit touched the lives of countless friends and extended family members who will deeply miss her.


A funeral service to celebrate Norma's life will be held at Providence Baptist Church on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the chapel and officiated by Reverend William Wheeler. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm in the fellowship hall.  Burial to follow service at Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford, NC. The Allen family welcomes all friends and family to join them in remembering and honoring Norma.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Providence Baptist Church's General Fund. Contributions can be made by checks payable to Providence Baptist Church, addressed to Attn: Tonya Perry, 4603 Old NC 75, Oxford, NC 27565.


The Allen family is receiving honorable care and support from Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, located at 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. Norma's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
