Norman Adams Russell

Norman Adams Russell, age 80, formerly of Sparger Rd., died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Carver Living Center after years of suffering ill health. Born October 24, 1928 in Durham County, he was the son of the late Archibald Cornelius and Pearl Foushee Russell. He retired from Liggett and Myers Tobacco Co. in 1986 after 32 years of service as a machine operator and was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Mr. Russell was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Dalton Russell in 2002, and an infant daughter in 1958 from a previous marriage. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded ineeath by his sister, Willmouth R. Davis, and brothers, John Louis Russell and Lamberth Cornelius Russell. Mr. Russell is survived by his sister, Neda R. Hendrickson of Durham; and brother, Archibald C. "A.C." Russell Jr. and his wife, Gracie, of Rougemont, NC; and many loving nieces and nephews, including grand and great-grand. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 4, 2009, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with the Reverend Cheryl Lawrence presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Durham. Active pallbearers will be Mr. Russell's nephews: Randy Russell, Gary Russell, Joe Moore, Joey Moore, Russell Blackwell and Ryan Blackwell. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to Mt.
