Patricia Spencer Hallyburton

Patricia Spencer Hallyburton, age 80, died peacefully at Duke Uneersity Medical Center on Friday, April 1, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born in Valdese, NC to the late Walter Jay and Fleta Pitts Spencer.?? She is survived by her son, Robert Spencer Hallyburton and his wife, Elizabeth, of Durham, NC, and their children, Robert Spencer Hallyburton, Jr., Richard Scott Hallyburton, and Julianna Grace Hallyburton. She is also survived by her brother Walter Jay Spencer, Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Savannah, GA; her sisters, Judy Wyatt of Greenville, SC; Sandra Bates of Hendersonville, TN; and Kitty Wyneerry and husband, Gene, of York, SC. She is preceded ineeath by her beloved husband, Robert Julius Hallyburton and her son, John Julius Hallyburton. Pat graduated from Valdese High School in North Carolina and received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the Uneersity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She and her husband Bob moved to Durham in 1956, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Pat was a teacher in the Durham County Public School System for over 30 years, much of it spent teaching at Hillandale Elementary School.?? She was also a faithful member of Yates Baptist church. Pat was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother.?? She had a passion for reading, music, dancing, flowers, birds, barbeque, and all things North Carolina, from the beach to the mountains to Carolina basketball. She always had a warm and welcoming smile oneer face and was gracious to all around her.?? She will be greatly missed, but her legacy lives on through her family and the many children she taught over her lifetime. Her family wishes to greet all friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham. A celebration of Pat Hallyburton???s life will be held oneednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Yates Baptist Church in Durham.??
