Paul Richard Dentel, age 75, finished his race on Earth on November 21, 2022 in Durham, NC. He was born on August 12, 1947 to the late Richard Paul & Ruth Romaine Dentel.
Paul was born and raised in Bluffton, IN and graduated from Bluffton High. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.
He served our country in the US Army during two tours in Vietnam from December 1969 to February 1971.
Paul fell in love and married Ellen Irene Agemy in 1974. They enjoyed nearly 48 years of marriage and raised two wonderful sons, Christopher Paul and Nicholas Paul.
Paul worked on bridge constructions, power plant cooling systems, and all things related to concrete in Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, Washington, Georgia(2nd time), Pennsylvania, and New Jersey before retiring to North Carolina in 2014.
He was unconditionally devoted to his family and faithfully provided for all their needs. He was devoted to the Lord and served in many capacities in his local churches. He, Ellen, and the boys even took a mission trip to Haiti and he and Ellen to Burma!
Paul was a quiet, kind, gentle son, brother, husband, dad, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, and Ye Ye. We are all better for having known the affections of this gracious man. And we miss him terribly.
Paul is survived by his wife, Ellen Dentel, his sons Chris (Melissa) Dentel and Nick (Lindsay) Dentel, five grandchildren, his brother David Dentel, and his sisters Susan Craig and Marsha (Kevin) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his sister Dixie Bowman.
A small family service is being planned for early 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to support Parkinson’s Disease research at www.apdaparkinson.org.
