Peyton Clements Tarry, 93, of Pine Cone Dr., Oxford, NC, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024. A native of Durham, she was the daughter of the late William Wallace Clements and Anne Miller Clements. She was a graduate of Duke University.
Mrs. Tarry was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church and a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. For many years, she was also a member of the Wednesday Literary Club and the Shakespeare Club.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 at Nutbush Presbyterian Church in Townsville, N.C., by the Rev. Alan Koeneke. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home.
Mrs. Tarry was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William B. Tarry, Jr., and their son, William B. Tarry, III. Surviving are their children, Sallie Tarry Kerr and husband, Martin of Davidson, N.C.; Dr. Wallace Clements Tarry and wife, Christina of Davidson, N.C. and Albin Rawlins Tarry and wife, Ellen of Pinehurst, N.C. Also surviving are daughter-in-law, Tracy Tarry of Weaverville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Omission of flowers is requested. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Presbyterian Church, the North Carolina Room of the Richard H. Thornton Library or a charity of the donor's choice.
