Mrs. Polly Amelia Milliken, 75, of Pittsboro, NC, passed away September 13, 2012 at UNC Hospital. A native of Orange County, Polly was born July 7, 1937 to the late Theodore James & Floy Valentine Blackwood. A loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother, any warm, sunny day would find Polly tending to her garden or slipping outdoors to try to catch some fish. She had a strong Baptist faith and raised her family with those values. A huge fan of the Tarheels, she would watch the games with her poodle Dolly, cheering by her side. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Milliken is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Dempsey; her son, Scott; her grandson, Billy Merritt; and her granddaughter, Anna Milliken. Survivors include: son, Ted Milliken of Pittsboro, NC ; daughters, Kris Tilley, and Neal of Durham, NC, Kim Mitchell, and Talton, of Pittsboro; sisters, Joan Multerer, and Michael, of Whigham, GA, & Theo Pendergraph and Bobby, of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Daffney and T.J. Hardiman, Laura Milliken & Mike Conley, Tony Merritt, & Jeremy & Laura Mitchell; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hardiman, Kendall Hardiman, Connor Hardiman, & Canaan Mitchell; along with many other loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00PM, Friday, September 14, 2012 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, in Pittsboro, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the chapel at the funeral home, with the Reverend Robert Elmore officiating. Pallbearers are: Kevineendergraph, Terry Pendergraph, Jeremy Mitchell, T.J. Hardiman, Mike Conley, & Connor Hardiman. Burial will follow in the Bynum Uneed Methodist Church Cemetery. Following the service, the family will receive friends and guests at the home of Ted Milliken.
