Senior Chief Petty Officer Ramon Pinon, 84, of Wimauma, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Durham, North Carolina.
Ramon was born on April 20, 1936, in the Philippines. Ramon served 26 years in the United States Coast Guard. He was stationed twice in Honolulu, Hawaii, a place that became close to his heart. He formed lasting friendships, including his Coast Guard buddies, Greg, Joven, Nap, Ed, Manuel, Bayani, Cesar, and George.
After retiring in St. Petersburg, Florida, Ramon worked at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department where he served for 12 years.
Ramon made many sacrifices to create an amazing life for his family. He loved the Coast Guard and being an American. He loved cooking, good drinks, and parties with friends. He loved smiling, laughing, jokes and pranks. He loved traveling. He loved cars and driving fast! He loved his family no matter how near or far. Most of all, he loved his wife, Catalina Pinon.
He is survived by his wife, Catalina, his three daughters, Mary Pinon, Leilani Pinon Sabin, Susan Husni; four grandchildren, Christina Wilder, Adam Kerkman, Mia Sabin, Alex Husni; and one great-granddaughter, Lorelai (Rory) Wilder.
His family will keep his memory alive and honor him by continuing to put good into the world.
Services will be livestreamed on Tuesday, May 12 at 11:00 AM EST (link to follow). In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made in memory of Ramon to Coast Guard Foundation (https://coastguardfoundation.org/), a non-profit organization that answers the call to provide education, support, and relief to service members.
