Rebecca Averette Michener

Rebecca Averette Michener (Becky) age 63, of Yonges Island, SC passed away on November 20, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Macon William Averette II, and Ruby Meadows Averette of Granville County, NC.

 Rebecca was born July 22, 1958 in Oxford, NC. She attended Mars Hill University and McDowell Technical College. She married William T. Michener III, on October 18, 1981 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oxford NC. She was employed at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, SC as a nurse and an Anesthesia Technician Supervisor for 39 years and retired in 2020. She lived on Yonges Island for the last 25 years and loved outdoor activities including boating, shrimping, crabbing, and growing flowers.

 Rebecca is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Michener III; her siblings, Denise Averette Hicks (Larry), Macon William Averette, III (Mary Anne) and Arthur “Artie” Averette (Pamela). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered and missed by all whose lives she touched.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

 The family will hold a funeral service on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oxford NC to be officiated by Reverend Keith Williams and Reverend Tim Atkinson. Burial to follow in the Church cemetery.
