OXFORD: Robert Bob Hubert Burnette, age 73, died Thursday evening, May 31 at his home. A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Hubert Herndon and Clara Eakes Burnette. Mr. Burnette was a retired tobacco farmer, a former member of the National Guard and a member of Enon Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also chairman of the Brotherhood and an active member of the Helping Hands Ministry at Enon. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church by Reverend James C. Shelley, Jr. and Reverend Steve Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30 PM. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Betty Jean Parrott Burnette Oxford; three daughters, Teresa Tucker Doug of Oxford, Angela Cash Howell of Oxford and Dr. Rhonda Burnette-Bletsch Reverend John Bletsch of Greensboro. Mr. Burnette is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Robert, Zachary, and Matthew Tucker; Heather and Lauren Cash, and Jonah, Ethan and Daniel Bletsch; and a sister, Ruth B. Huff of Oxford He is preceded ineeath by two sisters, Phoebe B. Hicks, and Betsy B. Grissom.
