Robert E. Eiland

DURHAM, NC: Robert Ehrlich Eiland, 71, died Thursday after a long illness. Bob was born neember 27, 1943 in Torrance, CA to the late Ehrlich and Marilee Eiland. He spent a portion of his childhood in Badin, NC prior to the family moving to Lower Burrell. Bob graduated from New Kensington High School in 1962, receiving his B.S. in business administration from Auburn Uneersity in 1966, and MBA in 1969, also from Auburn. Bob spent his early career with PPG Industries ineexington, NC as a cost accountant and budget analyst, after which he joined First Colony Farms in Creswell, NC in cost accounting. He retired and moved to Durham with his family in 1986. Bob was a devoted and diligent father; his daughter was the light of his life. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Margaret Stickley Eiland; his daughter, Dr. Monica Eiland and husband, Dr. Tapani Ronni of Medford, MA; his grandsons, Henrik and Tuomas Ronni; and a sister, Jane Harper of Anchorage, AK. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Calling hours 6-8 PM Monday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
