Robert Harrison Booth, Jr., 53, died at home Thursday. He was born July 26, 1959 in Charlotte, moving with his family to Durham in 1965. Bob graduated from Jordan High School and UNC Chapel Hill. He began his career working on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, returning to Durham in 1985 to work in state government. Bob then joined Duke Uneersity, where he most recently served as assistant to the President for international development. Bob Booth will be remembered as a devoted husband, son, unee, and loyal, faithful brother. He loved to play tennis and golf, and nothing gave him greater joy than to spend time on his deck with friends, listening to music and cooking on the grill. Surviving are his wife, Susan F. Booth; his father, Robert H. Booth, Sr. of Durham; sister, Susan Booth VanSant of Durham; niece, Cameron VanSant; his brother-in-law, Jonathan Forte, and wife, Audrey, and nephews, Jared and Jacob. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara DeLapp Booth in 2003. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday from Duke Uneersity Chapel, with the Rev'd Dr. William H. Willimon officiating. Private burial will be ineexington City Cemetery.
