Rodney E. Godwin, 59, died Sunday. A Durham native, he was the son of the late Abner and Gladys Godwin. Rodney was a 1966 graduate of Durham High School. As an eneepreneur, Rodney started several businesses, eventually leaving Durham and residing and working in the Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC metropolitan area, where, in 1982, he founded American Exteriors, Inc. and later, Mt. Vernon Paint Co., Inc. For the last 10 years Rodney had lived in the Ft. Myers, Fla. area while remaining an active officer in the Virginia companies. Surviving are his wife, Sally Bohn; his children, Mary Godwin Creech and husband, Gary, Scott A. Godwin and wife, Jordenne and Betsy Godwin; his sisters, Sandra G. Matthews, Judith G. Seagroves and Cathy G. Robinson; grandchildren, Caitlin and Brittany; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, with the Rev. Mark Stephens officiating. Friends may visit in the funeral home one hour prior.
