Rodney Wallace Murray, 58, resident of Raleigh, died Saturday. Born in Durham, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Lola Cone Murray. For 38 years Mr. Murray has been in fire service. He was with the Chapel Hill Fire Department for 26 years and the last 12 years he was Fire Chief for the town of Carrboro. Surviving are two sons, Christopher Murray of Apex and Bradley Murray of Raleigh and one brother, Donovan Murray and wife, Pat, of Durham. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday in Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Gerald Goodwin, Rev. Ed Denton, Rev.Albert Williams and Chief Dan Jones. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Samaria, NC. Friends may visit at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Harold Horne, Billy Breeden, Lemuel Henderson, Gerald Farrell, Gene Lloyd, Chief Everett Lloyd and Myrle Smith.
