Ruby Amos Crabtree

Mrs. Ruby Amos Crabtree, 94, of Damascus Church Rd., Chapel Hill and formerly of Greensboro, died June 20, 2010. Born March 21, 1916 in Rockingham County, she was a daughter of Ernest and Maude Hood Amos. She grew up in Greensboro and moved to Chapel Hill in 1950. Mrs. Crabtree was retired from UNC where she worked in lineneervices. She was a member of Damascus Coneegational Christian Church, where she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Survivors include her daughter, Joree Merritt of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Cindy Hynes, Mike Crabtree, Paul Crabtree, Bobby Crabtree, Joyce Kern, Barbara Dean, Lee Merritt; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Crabtree was predeceased by her husband, Jerome; son, Wayne; granddaughter, Nancy C. Merritt; a great-grandchild; a sister, Heleneedding and a brother, Lester Amos. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday at Damascus Christian Church by Pastor Ernie Keck. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
