Ruth Evelyn Morgan

Ruth Evelyn Stone Morgan, 94, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, surrounded by her children. She was born in Bolivia, NC, daughter of the late Rowland Kelly Stone and Ruth Rivenbark Stone Lunsford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Graden Morgan, Jr.; sister, Hilda Stone Stainback; and brother-in-law, Adkin Stainback.
Evelyn was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church until its closing. She devoted much of her time and talents to the nursery, Friendship class and flower committee; many of which were from her own beautiful rose garden. She was currently a member of Plainview Baptist Church.
Evelyn retired from General Telephone Company of the Southeast after 25 years of service. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, traveling, sharing her roses, and reading her Bible nightly.
She is survived by her children, Donna Mullins (Tony) of Lillington, NC, David Morgan (Kathy) of Franklin, NC, and Lyn Sorrell (Andy) of Rougemont, NC; brother, William Allen Lunsford (Brenda) of Tarboro, NC; sister, Grace Stone of Shallotte, NC; five grandchildren, Michelle Thomas (Dan), James Mullins, Rebecca Autry, Kyle Morgan (Brooke), Kayla Sanders (Thomas); twelve great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Friday, September 3 at Plainview Baptist Church 5200 Cheek Road Durham, NC. Rev. Doug Nalley will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at 12:00pm.
Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC.
Pallbearers will be James Mullins, Rebecca Autry, Kyle Morgan, Kayla Sanders, Jeff Lunsford and Kevin Lunsford. Honorary Pallbearer will be Michelle Thomas.
