Ruth Lee Cook McLaurin, 92, of Highway 902, Pittsboro, died February 16, 2008 at her home. Mrs. McLaurin was born in Chatham County on May 31, 1915, the daughter of Edgar Hugh Cook and Maude Lee Jones Cook. She was a graduate of Pittsboro High School, and a homemaker. Mrs. McLaurin loved cooking, quilting, and her garden and flowers. She was a friend to all, and loved taking folks to visit at the nursing home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs.McLaurin was an avid Duke fan aneenjoyed nothing more that watching Duke beat Carolina. Prior to her death, she was the second oldest member of Pleasant Hill Uneed Methodist Church, with only her husband Neil being older. She is survived by her husband, Neil; sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh and Jeanette McLaurin aneearl and Paulette McLaurin all of Pittsboro; daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Tom Taylor of Winston-Salem, Linda and Gilbert Ruth of Pittsboro; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. The service to celebrate her life will be conducted by Rev. Ray Gooch at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 19, 2007 at Pleasant Hill Uneed Methodist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family following the service. Memorials may be given to the Pleasant Hill Uneed Methodist Church Building Fund, Pleasant Hill Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344.
