Sadie Pittman Micol

Sadie Pittman Micol, 103, passed away peacefully oneednesday, January 17, 2018 at Brookshire Senior Living in Hillsborough. She was the youngest of five children born to the late Priscilla Foy Pittman and Johnee Ellis Pittman. Sadie was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, John H. Micol Jr., her son Warren Pittman, her brother George and her sisters Hattie P. Hodgin, Pearl P. Bradford and Vera P. Wood. Sadie was born in Onslow County oneecember 16, 1914 and moved to West Durham at the age of seven. She worked at American Tobacco for 38 years until her retirement in 1977 and was an active member of McMannen Uneed Methodist Church for many years. Ineer later years, Sadie lived in Hillsborough aneenjoyed traveling. Her favorite trips included Branson, MO and Disney World. Sadie will be remembered fondly for her quick wit and her love of chocolate. She is survived by her step-son Giovannee. Micol, four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and her daughter in-law Mary Cates Pittman. A Funeral Service will be held from McMannen Uneed Methodist Church at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2018. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church from 1-1:45 pm prior to the service at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving staff at Brookshire Senior Living for the special care provided to Sadie.
