Samuel "Sammy" Christmas Hobgood, Iii

Oxford Samuel "Sammy C. Hobgood, III, age 66, of Oxford, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 23, 2018. He was a native of Granville County, and the son of the late Bill and Mary Lee Newby Hobgood. Sammy was a die-hard Carolina Tarheel fan that loved his family, his friends and his horse, Ms. Rose. He was an avid softball player with a competitive spirit. Sammy was a loyal friend and a loving father and husband. Sammy is survived by his wife, Kay F. Hobgood. His son, Sam Hobgood and his wife, Amy of Oxford; their two children Michael and Maggie Bass. He is also survived by brothers, Sterling Hobgood (Vickie) and Tim Hobgood (Mary Ann). Sammy was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Hobgood (Dixie). He was greatly loved and will be missed by family and friends. Visitation will be at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan at 12:00 pm on April 25, 2018 with a Service by Reverend Wayne Clark to immediately follow in the Chapel of Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Meadowview Memorial Gardens, Oxford, NC. In lieu of flowers, you make contributions in Memory of Sammy Hobgood to Dexter Baptist Church or to Pruitt Health Hospice.
