Sarah "Mimi" Blackwood Rogers, age 92, died peacefully Tuesday morning surrounded by her loving family. Born in Greenville, NC on January 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Daniel R. and Penee Mills Oliver. Sarah was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Durham and the Loyalty Sunday School Class. She was employed by Sperry Rand Corp. for 30 years and was a member of the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons. Sarah devoted couneess hours as a voluneer at Durham Regional Hospital. Sarah is survived by her two children, George Steven Blackwood and wife, Carolyn, of Durham; Penny Blackwood Goswick Curran also of Durham; her loving grandchildren, John Goswick Jade of Monee, NJ; Anne Curran Browning Joe of Durham; Jeffrey Blackwood Braneey of Durham; Joseph Blackwood Laura of Harrisburg, NC; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Cole Goswick; Patrick Browning; Lainey and Kirbey Blackwood; Connor Blackwood; and devoted friend, Sandra Wood. She was preceded ineeath by her husbands, George M. Blackwood and Ralph Rogers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 23, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with the Reverend Bill Benson presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12:30-1:45 PM on Friday prior to the service in the funeral home.
