Sarah Lackey Ferrell, age 91, former resident of 107 W. Lynch Street, died Thursday evening at Duke Medical Center. Mrs. Ferrell was born in Alexander County, NC ands was the daughter of the late George W. and Flossie Head Lackey. She worked as a nurse at Duke Hospital, at Durham Veterans Hospital for 32 years and with Durham Regional Hospital until retiring. Mrs. Ferrell will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed gardening and helping others. Her genee spirit and loving smile will be miss by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, William E. Ferrell, Jr. Surviving are her daughter, Elizabeth F. Talcott of Greenwood, SC; two sons, William E. Ferrell III and wife Louise of Shelby, NC and Thomas W. Ferrell and wife Jill of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, William E. Ferrell, IV, Michael Ferrell, Aneew Talcott and Philip Talcott; two great-grandchildren, Ashtoneerrell and Collineerrell; one great-great grandchild, Brysoneerrell; and two sisters, Kathryn Tonty Of Baltimore, MD and Ruby Little of Taylorsville, NC. The family wishes to thank Miss Ann Copley for her devotion and special friendship for many years to the entire family. Graveside services will be held 3 PM Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Gerald C. Goodwin will preside. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 PM Sunday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
