Serguei Dolys Ndinga Momo

Serguei Dolys Ndinga Momo died suddenly of cardiac arrest in his home in Carrboro, NC on June 27, 2023, at age 21.


Dolys was a loving son, brother, and grandson. He is survived by his parents, Sergueï Bracy Ndinga Momo and Strother Murray-Ndinga, of Chapel Hill, NC, and Irène Milolo Tamba (Badibanga), of Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. He is also survived by his elder sister Vanessa Musoki Massamba, of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; sisters Naomie and Klavna Ndinga, of Chapel Hill; brother Exaucé Ndinga, of Chapel Hill; and grandmothers, Rilla Murray, of Chapel Hill and Monique Makolo Tshissabi, of Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.


He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Albert Dolys Ndinga and Antoinette Nzoumba Mangoubi, both of whom doted on their first grandson.


Dolys was born June 21, 2002, in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, and attended primary school there. Later, he attended The American School of Kinshasa before moving with his family to Honduras.


Dolys was an avid and talented soccer player, following in his father’s footsteps, and inspiring his younger brother. He cheered for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain and loved the World Cup. During his high school career at Del Campo School in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX, he excelled in both American football and soccer. After moving to Chapel Hill in 2021, he enjoyed playing recreational soccer with the Orange County Adult Soccer League (OCASL) and supporting his younger siblings in their athletic endeavors.


Dolys was employed by UNC Hospitals at the time of his death.


A funeral service for Dolys is planned for Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of the Cross (Episcopal) in Chapel Hill with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
