OXFORD: Sidney Taylor Currin, 87 passed away on July 22, 2013 at Duke Medical Center. He was borneecember 21, 1925 in Granville Co. to the late Ralph Ansal and Mary Lee Hobgood Currin. He was preceded ineeath by his wife of 53 years, Anne Pitts Currin and a sister, Sophie Currin Daniel. Taylor was in the U. S. Marine Corp in WWII, Pacific Theatre. He graduated from N. C. State Uneersity in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture, where he at one time served as a consultineengineer in Tunisia. He later retired from the N. C. Department of Environmental Resources and Land Quality. He was the former proprietor of Currin Engineering & Surveying. Taylor served many communities in various capacities throughout his life, including voluneer firefighter, Boy Scout Leader and Church Trustee. Memorial services will be conducted Friday July 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Banks Uneed Methodist Church, by Rev. Gina Miller. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the burial. Surviving are, daughters, Patricia Gallagher and husband Joseph Gallagher and Cheryl Currin; three grandsons, Eric Jones, Ian Hilton and Brian Gallagher; one great granddaughter, Isabella Hilton; one sister, Eloise Currineewton of Oxford; brother, David Douglas Currin of Moneent Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you send donations to the Taylor & Anne Currineemorial Fund, c/o banks Uneed Methodist Church, 2632 NC Hwy 96, Oxford, NC 27565.
