Stella Mousmoules

DURHAM: Stella Mousmoules departed this life Friday, September 13 following a brief illness. She was borneecember 9, 1927 in Durham to the late Aneew and Zoi Mousmoules. Her parents were founding members of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Barbara, where Stella was also a devoted member. She worked tirelessly for the church as a voluneer and for its fundraisineefforts over many years. A graduate of Durham High School in 1945 and Duke Uneersity, she was retired from Duke Medical Center and later worked at the Environmental Protection Agency. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society. Stella was also involved in the community tutoring children ineeading and visiting nursing home residents. Surviving are her nephews, Aneew and Jordan Mousmoules of Chapel Hill. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Paula M. Heonis and brothers, James A. and John A. Mousmoules. The funeral liturgy will be 2:00 PM Wednesday from St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, with Fr. Stavroforos Mamaies presiding. Burial will follow in Woodlawneemetery. Friends may visit 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, with the Trisagioneervice at 7:00.
