Steven Douglas Breedlove

Steven Douglas Breedlove, age 65, died peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in his home. He was the son of the late Elliott Franklin Breedlove and Margaret Frazier Breedlove.  Steve was born in Granville County on September 1, 1956.

Steve was a man that believed in hard work. Long hours and calloused hands, but he loved his family and community. He loved his grandsons more than anything and couldn’t wait for their next visit.

Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary “Betsy” Mangum Breedlove, his daughter, Brittany Blackwell (George) of Stem, his adored twin grandsons, Miles and Beckham.  He is also survived by his siblings, Kenneth Breedlove (Sharon) of Oxford, Ronnie Breedlove (Wanda) of Roxboro, Joyce Leonard (Bobby) of Oxford and E.F. Breedlove, Jr of Durham.  He will be dearly missed by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends too numerous to name.  His special dog, Buddy, who stayed glued to his hip will miss him greatly.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his 5 siblings, Bill, Marshall, Ray, Carl and Jeanette Breedlove.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 3,2022, at 11:00 am at Bullock Cemetery, Stem, NC and officiated by Reverend Cam Ford.  Before and after the service, the family welcomes visitors to their home.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made in his honor to the family for Miles and Beckham’s College fund. 

A very special thank you to all the ones that helped, but especially to Dorothy Garrett for all her guidance, support and running around throughout Steve’s illness.
