Theodore Ronald Templeton

May 14, 1955 — March 14, 2022

Theodore Ronald Templeton, 66 years old, our devoted husband, father, and granddaddy went to be home with the Lord on March 14, 2022. Everyone called him “Ron.” He was born on May 14, 1955 in Statesville, North Carolina to the late Ted and Ruth Templeton. He graduated from South Iredell High School as a Salutatorian of the Class of 1973. Ron attended North Carolina State University and graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from John J. Kirlin in 2016 after 39 years as a mechanical engineer and commissioner for multiple companies. Ron enjoyed playing golf and relaxing on his pontoon boat at his Lake Norman home. He enjoyed spending time at the lake and pulling his grandchildren on the tubes. Ron was a North Carolina State football fan. He also enjoyed watching Nascar racing and he loved Fox News. He was a kind man. He did not have a lot to say, but when he did talk you wanted to listen. Ron was a true Republican and he did not mind sharing his thoughts on the subject. You never saw Ron without a baseball hat on his head, even in his home. On October 21, 1973 he married Gail Howard who survives. Ron and Gail have been together for 48 years. Ron is survived by his sister Diana Robinson, his children April Magnano (Chris), Amber Evans (Brandon), Kevin Templeton (Malinda), and his grandchildren Elizabeth Gardner, Grayson, Ella, and Charlotte Evans, Rosemary and Forrest Templeton, and his beloved fur-babies Jake and Charlie. Ron is also survived by his Uncle Jim Templeton (Peggy), Uncle Paul Deaton (Jackie), his Aunt Mary Francis McNealy, his nephew Anthony Cambell (Anastasia) and his niece Amanda Gardner (Tommy), his good friends for 38 years Pat and Donna Remington, and their children Brandon and Lindsay Remington. We would like to thank his doctors, Dr. Crawford and Susan Blackwell, for his care at Duke Cancer Center. We also want to thank Duke Hospice. We will have a celebration of his life at a later date at his home in Lake Norman. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be mailed to the NC Lung Cancer Initiative at 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 401 Raleigh, North Carolina 27612 or at their website under the memorial for Ron Templeton at https://www.lungcancerinitiativenc.org/
