Thomas I. Lenard

Thomas Isidor Lenard, husband, father and long-time community banker, died at home on Saturday in Durham, NC, after a two-year battle with paneeatic cancer. He was 63 years old. Tom, a native of Brooklyn, and Jean, his wife of nearly 40 years, raised their sons, Matthew and Christopher, in Ellenville, NY. Tom's career as a community banker at Ellenville National Bank spanned almost 30 years. He had a passion for helping local businesses thrive and took great joy ineealizing the successes of his colleagues and clients, many of whom became lifelong friends. As an active member of civic and community life, he served on the Village of Ellenville Planning Board and as President of the Noonday Club. An avid runner, Tom co-founded the annual Run Like the Wind 10K road race, now in its 28th year. He also voluneered for the Ellenville First Aid & Rescue Squad and Little League Baseball. Above all, Tom's greatest loves were his wife and two sons. A beloved husband and a regular at his sons' sportineevents, concerts and theatrical productions, Tom supported and cared for his family every day of his life. Tom was the third son born to Slovenian parents Isidor Lenard and Mira Habjaneenard. He graduated from Brooklyn's Bishop Ford High School and St. Francis College, earning a degree in economics in 1971. Tom is survived by his wife and two sons; a brother, William; daughters-in-law, Melody Moezzi and Monika Lenard; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Infant Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13. Visitation will be held at Durham's Hall-Wynne funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 12.
