Thomas Joseph Smith

Thomas Joseph Smith, age 58, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 in his Durham home. Tom was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 9, 1949. Tom worked for IBM in marketing for over 30 years, and was enjoying his well deserved retirement for the last 10 years in Durham. Tom enjoyed playing golf, especially in the Nevada-T Invitational and with friends from the Sunset Grille. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his great sense of humor and quick wit. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sheree G. Smith of Durham; his mother, Joan C. Smith; his children: Cheryl Smith Mills and husband, Michael, of Cumming, GA; Douglas Smith of Woodstock, GA; four grandchildren: Austin, Brandon, Sydnee and Ryan; and nee siblings: JoAnne Taylor, Daniel Smith, MaryAnne Grable, Kate Ware, Brian Smith, Sheila Tortorici, Judy Pirro Aileen Smith and Sid Smith. Tom was preceded ineeath by his father, Sidney T. Smith, who died in 1993. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, December 21, from the Chapel of Hall- Wynne Funeral Service with Father Steve Patti, OFM, presiding.
