Virginia Blair Quineevans, 74, of Chapel Hill, NC, died on Saturday, Feburary 4, 2012. She was born in Shreveport, LA on April 22, 1937, the daughter of Mary Virginia Saunders Quinn and Dr. Harold Joseph Quinn. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, VA and graduated from Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane Uneersity, New Orleans, in 1959. At Randolph-Macon she took her first course in art history, a passion which nourished her throughout her life. Before her marriage to George Jones Evans, Jr., she worked at the Chamber of Commerce in Shreveport and at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC. After their marriage in 1962, she and Mr. Evans lived in White Plains, NY and New Canaan, CT where she was a Realtor with Brotherhood & Higley and active in the Junior League. Ineetirement, she and her husband lived at Governor's Club and Carolina Meadows in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Evans was an active voluneer in the community, serving as a tutor at North Chatham Elementary School and head of the travel committee of the Guild of the Ackland Museum of the Uneersity of North Carolina. She later served as President of the Guild. She also voluneered for the Loaves and Fishes hospitality committee at The Chapel of the Cross. Mrs. Evans is survived by two children, Mary Heneey Evans and her husband, Jason David Adams of Rosendale, NY, and George Coulter Evans and his wife Julie McMillen Evans of Cape Coral, FL.; two adored granddaughters, Kaia Quinn Adams of Rosendale, NY, and Isabelle Quineevans of Cape Coral, FL; a brother, Dr. Harold Joseph Quinn and his wife Robin MacNicol Quinn of Chapel Hill; and a sister, Margaret Quinn of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by nephews David Saunders Quinn of Shreveport and John Vaden Quinn of Mt. Pleasant, SC; niece Blair Quinn Purgerson of Baton Rouge, LA; and cousins Helen Jane Reddy Blackwell of Arlington, VA, Evelyn Humphreys Quinn of Shreveport, and Gay Ann Quinn of Houston. The family is deeply grateful to Mrs. Evans' physicians at Duke Uneersity, especially Dr. Katherine Peters, her physical therapist, Andy Blackburn, and to her caregivers, especially Juanita Smith, and Ashley Weaver, during her long illness. The family will conduct the funeral at The Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to The Chapel of the Cross, 304 East Franklin Street Chapel Hill, NC 27514 or the Robert Preston Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke Uneersity at P.O.
