Virginia Ladd Hicks

Virginia Dare Ladd Hicks (93) passed away peacefully at Brookshire Nursing Center surrounded by her family. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 9, 2018. The daughter of the late Otis aneella Ladd, she is predeceased ineeath by her beloved husband Oscar Hicks, and sisters Louise Colclough and Juanita Allison. She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Williamson (husband, Lee) and Mary Shambley (husband, Roy); four grandchildren, Tonja Womble (husband, Jed), Brandi Bullock (husband, Justin), Kevin Shambley (wife, Missy), and Kelli Dallin (husband, Eric); aneeight great grandchildren, Jace and Kale Womble, Hayes Bullock, Katey and Kimber Shambley, and Bryant, Kennedy and Savannah Dallin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as special friends of the family, Jim and Nina Barr, and Mollie aneemily. Though Mrs. Hicks faced many challenges ineer life she always had a smile oneer face. Besides being a wonderful homemaker, Mrs. Hicks loved gardening, anything to do with flowers, holidays, family gatherings and anything sweet. A special thank you to the staff at Brookshire Nursing Center for the excellent care they provided Mrs. Hicks for the past 10 years. Mrs. Hicks was lovingly given the nicknee ???supervisor??? by the staff because of her constant suggestions about what needed to be done. A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina with visitation starting at 10:00 and the service starting at 11:00. Pastors Brad Williams and Rich Goodier will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
