William B. Morris

William B. Morris, 73, died at home following an extended illness. He was born October 13, 1935 in Oxford to the late Fred and Maggie Hobgood Morris. Mr. Morris graduated from Berea High School, after which he joined the US Navy, where he served for 4 years. Following military service, he returned to Durham and was employed by the A&P store and later, Hilton Inn. His last position was with Duke Hospital as an HVAC technician. Mr. Morris was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. He was raised ineester Baptist Church in Oxford, and for many years he worshipped at the Christian & Missionary Alliance church. He was a member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge #210 AF & AM, the Durham York Rite Bodies, and was a Shriner affiliated with Sudaneemple. Mr. Morris was devoted to his work, but after retirement found delight in his daily walks at Northgate Mall, where he would socialize with his friends who coneegated there regularly. He enjoyed wood working, the outdoors and mostly special time spent with his grandson. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Bonnell "Bonee" Layton Hilliard Morris; his daughter, Tricia Stillman and husband, Warren of Wake Forest; stepsons, Wesley Hilliard of Denver, CO, and Keith Hilliard and wife, Judy of Durham; his grandsoneethan Norman of Durham; step grandchildren, Brandy Grzybowski and Ashley Stillman. He was predeceased by a sister, Eloise Bigger and brothers, Howard and McLendon Morris. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday from Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, with the Rev'd Jeff McCarthy officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral. Friends may visit 3-5 Pm Sunday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
