OXFORD: William F. "Billy" Steagall, age 94 a resident of Oxford, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday April 14, 2011. He was a native of Granville Co. and was the son of the late James I. and Minee Pearl Sherron Steagall. Billy was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, a Air Force veteran of WWII, a former employee of Oxford Laundry and Cleaners, a retired employee of the US Postal Service with 33 years of service. After retirement he started his own air conditioneepair service for 20 years. He was preceded ineeath by his wife Janie Jones Steagall. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Chapel by the Rev. Alan Koenee. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Surviving is his daughter, Brenda S. Riggsbee and husband Claiborne of Durham; grandson Chad Riggsbee of Durham; granddaughter, Shannaon McBride and husband Steven of Barnardsville, NC ; two great grandchildren, Alan and Hayden McBride of Barnardsville, NC; several nieces and nephews and his caregivers, Deana West and Linda Norris of Oxford. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
