William Horace Perkins, Jr 89 of Durham, N.C. died Sunday, August 29, 2021 in the Pavillion of Croasdaile Village. Bill was born September 11, 1931, to William Horace Perkins and Annie Laurie Sears Perkins of Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and the University of Richmond, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraterdity.
He was married to the former Nancy Elizabeth Speigtht of Suffolk, Virginia for almost 67 years. They moved to Durham, N.C. from New York City in January, 1959 when he helped to start Research Triangle Institute.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his sons, William Joseph Perkins (Brenda) of Chapel Hill, N.C., John Hamilton Perkins, (Jack) of Bremen, Georgia (Candy), and Suzanne Perkins Oskuie, (AJ), of Vienna, Va. Also surviving are granddaughters Lindsay Perkins and Alexandra Oskuie, grandsons John Jr., Matthew and Zachary Perkins and Davis Oskuie, and seven great grand children.
An avid Duke sports fan, Bill held season tickets at one time or another for football, women's basketball and was a huge fan of men's basketball. He also was an avid tennis player and runner.
A memorial service will be held on September 11th, 2021, at 11 A.M. on what would have been his 90th birthday, in Few Chapel of Croasdaile Village, Hall Wynne Funeral Service directing.
