William Hunter Stallworth, Jr.

Mr. William Hunter "Bill" Stallworth, Jr., 85, of Pittsboro, NC died February 14, 2009 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Bill was born ineeath Springs, SC on March 16, 1923, the son of William H. Stallworth, Sr. and Zada Rogers Stallworth. He was a graduate of Clemson Uneersity with degrees in Math and Chemistry. Bill's time at Clemson was divided betweeneerving in the US Navy during campaigns in Africa, Europe and Japan. He was in the Air Corps and later in bomb disposal. Following his graduation from Clemson, he became a textile executive and worked for various companies in the southeast. Among various locales, Bill and his family lived in Aiken, SC for 10 years, then Rockingham, NC for 25, before moving to Pittsboro two years ago. Bill enjoyed traveling, the beach, and was an avid golfer. Bill was a long time, active member of First Uneed Methodist Church of Rockingham . He deeply loved his family, and they in turn loved him as well. Those that survive him include his wife, Mary Moore Stallworth of the home; son Billy Stallworth of Pittsboro and Billy's daughter Melissa and her children Dallas and Austin; son Jim Stallworth and his wife Ramona and their children Hunter, Shannon, and Sydney, of Fort Mill, SC; son John Stallworth and his wife Pam and their daughter Lineey, of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter Susan Phillips and her husband Dave, and their son Moore, of Pittsboro; and daughter Mary Ann Fineey and her soneent, of Aiken, SC. The service to celebrate Bill Stallworth's life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, February 16, 2009 at First Uneed Methodist Church, Rockingham, NC, with Rev. Keith Nanney, presiding.
