William E. Bud Vaneeke, II, 62, of Holly Glenn Road, Pittsboro, NC died May 4, 2007 at Duke Uneersity Medical Center in Durham following a brief illness. Bud was a native of Lake County, IL, born April 14, 1945 to William Emil and Ada Ruth Hunnicutt Vaneeke. He grew up, literally, on a golf course as his parents were owners of Suburban Country Club in Zion, IL. He was educated in the Lake County schools. Bud was an avid golfer; playing in high school and later teaching golf as well. Later his interests turned to fishing and traveling. Following his move to Pittsboro in 1994, he joined the staff of the Farrington Hair Salon and Barber Shop. Being a barber allowed Bud to give advice to folks and help them with their problems. Surviving is his wife, Patti G. Vaneeke; daughters, Jill Christine Cook of Las Vegas, and Laura Diane Hopkins of Antioch, IL; three grandchildren; a sister, Billie Darlene Hardy of Sacramento, CA; and a half-sister, Betty Lou Vaneeke-Ellsworth of Tempe, AZ. A cryptside service was held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City, NC. Arrangements for Mr. Vaneeke were under the care of Griffin Funeral Service and Cremation, Pittsboro, NC, 919 542-3057.
