William (Bill/Billy) Gray Woodlief went to be with the Lord Friday, March 14, 2025, with his wife, Mildred and daughter, Angela by his side. Billly was born September 4, 1944, to Longfellow and Lillian Woodlief. He was raised in Vance County before marrying Mildred Adcock and moving to Oxford, NC to raise their only daughter, Angela. Bill was employed at the Tobacco Research Station in Oxford for 20 years before retiring due to disability. Following retirement, he operated vending services through NC Services for the Blind at the rest areas on north and southbound I -85 between Oxford and Butner with the help of dedicated family members throughout the years.
Billy enjoyed listening to the news, listening to books on tape, and talking on the phone with his friends and family. He was famous among his family for his Brunswick stew that he made yearly for many years. Surviving Bill is his dedicated wife of 53 years, Mildred Adcock Woodlief, daughter, Angela Woodlief Brooks, his son-in-law and buddy, Chris Brooks and 2 grandchildren, Lilli Brooks and Will Brooks.
The family extends special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Hock Family Pavilion for their compassionate and outstanding care in Billy’s last days.
A graveside service for Billy will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Meadowview Memorial Cemetery located on Highway 15 N and Sterl Carrington Road. Friends and family are invited to attend to honor his life.
Flowers are welcomed and appreciated, or donations in Billy’s memory may be made to the Duke Hospice, Hock Pavilion at 4023 North Roxboro St, Durham, NC 27704.
