Willie Helen Lamb Winston Ball, 90, entered into eternal rest Friday evening at Rex Hospital, Raleigh. Born in Capron, Va., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Lamb and Dorothy Rena Whitehead Lamb. Helen moved to Durham in 1938. She married Raymond L. Winston, who died in 1970. Later she married Robert L. Ball, who died in 1996. Mrs..Ball was retired from the Seeman Printery / Fisher Harrison Corp. Helen was a member of Robbins Road Christian Church, where she was a deacon and a member of the Ladies Bible Class. She was a member of the XYZ and the G. G.'S Senior Club. She was a voluneer for several years for Meals on Wheels. Helen will be remembered as a loving mother who loved deeply and was well loved. She was devoted to her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Helen loved sewing and knitting and she enjoyed hosting Thursday night family dinners and holiday meals at her home. She will be greatly missed but forever in our memories. Surviving are two sons, Walter Leo Winston and wife, Lynda and Samuel Carter Winston and wife, Judith all of Durham; two step-daughters, Karen Yanee and husband Steve and Joyce McLamb and husband David all of Durham; three grandchildren, Tracey Winston Pleasants and husband, Kenny, Susan Winston Grant and Bradford Harvey Winston and wife, Jenny; one great-grandson, Nicholas Hart Pleasants; six step-grandchildren and several step- great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 14, 2011, at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. The Rev. Roland Jones will preside. Burial will be in Woodlawneemorial Park. The visitation will be held from 4 to 6PM Sunday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. The family will be at the home of Tracy and Kenny Pleasants, 3602 Cole Mill Road, Durham, NC 27712.
